Barnacle® Kelp Salsas add alluring flavor — and exceptional nutrition — to nachos, eggs, paella, fish tacos, or straight out of the jar with chips.
What explains its uniquely irresistible flavor? Wild bull kelp abounds in umami: the fabulously enticing “fifth flavor” in tomatoes, aged cheese, and soy sauce.
Kelp is the new kale
Kelp may be even more nutritious than famously healthful kale — without the bitterness of that leafy green.
Kelp is considered a nutritional rival to kale because it’s rich and iodine, potassium, magnesium, calcium, boron, and iron, — plus vitamins, antioxidants, phytonutrients, amino acids, omega-3 fats, and fiber.
Barnacle Foods joins a growing number of Alaska-based startups driving a “sea-to-table” movement focused on locally sourced oceanic foods — and we’re excited to offer a truly delicious way to get on board!

"Delicious!" Review: This salsa has an excellent flavor and just enough heat, for my taste. It is delicious with chips, crackers, and nachos. In addition, it is outstanding with eggs.
"The best salsa!" Review: I love the Barnacle salsas! It is awesome that kelp is the main ingredient (so many health benefits!) but also they just make really tasty salsa. The kelp brings an umami flavor but otherwise this product tastes like salsa (so the flavor is more of a tomato salsa flavor than anything you might expect from kelp). The Campfire is my favorite of the Barnacle products! I love the roasted flavor. I used it on burritos and with chips. Whenever I've served for guests, they have also loved it. Would highly recommend!
"So tasty!" Review: This salsa is one of my favorites! The smoky flavor and the bit of heat goes perfectly with my eggs in the morning and I can put a big dent in it with chips too. I'll be buying this as a pantry staple.
